I am a current senior at the University of Alabama graduating in December with a B. A. in history and anthropology. I'm from Augusta, Georgia, home of the Masters (I don't care) and the formerly named Medical College of Georgia (I do care). Currently, I'm applying for graduate schools in the history of science and medicine. My current work discusses the role of 19th-century social transformations (particularly changing views about race, the institutionalization of medicine, and religious/philosophical developments) in the alienation of female patients from obstetricians and other medical practitioners. In the future, I'd like to continue researching the intersections of medicine, race, and gender, particularly on North American frontiers.
